Art Nouveau Carved Marble Figural Group, c. 1900, of a scantily clad woman seated on a reclining lion, probably Italian, on an integral stepped plinth base, H.- 17 1/2 in., W.- 15 in., D.- 8 in.
Condition consistent with age and use. A 3 inch triangular loss to the back left corner. Several approximate 2 inch black streaks on the lion. A pea-size chip in the proper right knee. Proper left toes lacking. Soiling throughout. Heavy chipping along the bottom edges of the base. A cluster of chips on the lion muzzle. Seven flea-size brown spots on the skirt and lion haunches. Three 2 inch and one 3 inch hairline cracks along the left corner of the base. An intriguing piece.
