Pearl-diademed, helmeted, and cuirassed bust facing slightly right, holding spear over shoulder with right hand, on left arm a shield decorated with horseman spearing an enemy below. Rev. Theodosius II, also Theodosius the Younger or Theodosius the Calligrapher, reigned from 408 to 450 CE. He promulgated the Theodosian Law Code and oversaw the construction of the Theodosian Walls, a tremendous infrastructure project whose restored section can be seen today at the Selymbria Gate.
