Excerpt from Paul Wing: "It was John Frederick Mascher, a 28-year-old German-born clock- and watchmaker in Philadelphia, who enthusiastically promoted the personal stereoscopic portrait". – Size of the plate 3 1/6 x 4 in., portrait of a gentleman, hand-tinted, slightly tarnished, brass passe-partout with stamp, original leather-covered original case. Rare to find in Germany. – Literature: Paul Wing, "Stereoscopes", p. 80/81.
