Bound in period calf boards, sympathetically rebacked, corners renewed. Title with three early paper repairs to corners (no loss) and 18th c. ownership signature to blank verso, a few small marginal tears, Very Good. *********************************** The first edition of the Greek Septuagint to be printed in England. Two issues are known to exist. The present copy has the printer's bell device, and the 16 line dedication. The "most enduring achievement" of the publisher Roger Daniel (McKitterick, CUP, p. 304). This edition was edited by John Biddle, the Unitarian controversialist, who was imprisoned by the Parliamentary Commissioners for his religious views.
