Carved wooden sculpture of a female ancestor holding a large bowl above her head and shown seated on a lion with open mouth, perhaps a divination vessel. The entire sculpture shows age and wear and a well handled surface patina. From the Luba peoples, DRC/ Congo, Africa. The Bowl bearer sculpture measures 17.5 x 7 inches.

Very well handled and worn, deep patina, losses to edge of bowl.
