Lot 0056
This jar stands 7.75 inches by 6 inches in diameter. Signed with impressed mark of the artist, as shown. This jar was purchased from Akar Design for the Vasefinder Collection, where it was part of the exhibition and sale called Recent Work: Clary Illian and Linda Arbuckle. The opening for that exhibition was September 24, 2010. Clary Illian was born and reared in Iowa. She received a B.F.A. from the University of the Iowa in 1963. In 1964 and 1965, she served as an apprentice for the Bernard Leach Pottery in Cornwall, England. Since 1966, she has been a fulltime functional potter working in the United States with great distinction. She has taught at institutions throughout the United States and Canada, as well as Clary has published a definitive text on pottery A Potter's Workbook in 1999.

Condition

There is no post-factory damage, such as chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. A few scattered factory glaze dimples are noted. This jar is in excellent condition with a nice ring when tapped.
