Item: Spanish American War Era Carved Coconut Parade Torch, possibly made by POW. Meticulously hand carved coconut with symbolic images including; a U.S. occupied military fortress flying a U.S. flag, floral basket with clover and olive branch, grapes with compromising handshake, stylized moustached face, etc. Created for use as a parade torch. Notice the metal funnel insert at the top with an opening to pour in oil and for placement of the wick. There are two small holes, one on each side, to allow the carving to be attached to a torch stick with free moving bracket or harp.Date: Circa 1900Dimensions: Approximate size is 5-3/4" tall including metal piece X about 3-1/2" wide.
