EE-4 EAGLE AND SHIELD PRESSED OPEN SALT, colorless, raised on four feet. Unique. Probably Pittsburgh. 1830-1845. 2 1/8" H, 2" x 3 1/2".
Proof except for a few flakes to side of rim.

Catalogue Note: This is only the second example of this salt that we have sold. An example from the Caleb Ewing collection was included in the 1954 Corning exhibit (case 40, no. 773) where Rose noted that it was "Unpublished" and "Possibly unique".
