Artist: Takahashi Shotei. Title: Late Fall, Early Winter Rain at Arakawa. Date: Pre-1923 Tokyo Earthquake of 1923. Publisher: Watanabe. Size: 5-3/4 x 12-1/2 inches approximate. Description: This is a crepe print or Chirimen-gami-e ("compressed thread paper prints"). The original print was compressed using a device that reduced the overall size of the print while preserving the image. This device was used from the1800's into the 20th century. The prints are also referred to as Crepon. The original print measured approximately 16-1/4 x 37-1/4 inches. Medium: Japanese Woodblock Print
