This iron Viking Oakeshott sword, which originated circa 5th century A.D., was found buried under water, close to a citadel near Cologne, Germany. The item is in good condition, as it was preserved for centuries due to freshwater and mud. Documentation available. Pommel has indicernable markings. Nice thin blade with deep central fuller. Moderate to heavy corrosion. Comes protected in solid wood custom box. Measurements: 31 1/4" blade, 8" crossguard, 39" overall. This lot has a reserve.
