We are exceptionally proud to showcase this magnificent Yellowware glazed French 19th century central Whippet figurine and double removable bowl inkwell. The style, decoration, & finish are classic French, featuring a concave oval, triple staged plinth with a raised center platform. The festooned French Fleur de Lis shield denotes a generic French noble family crest, and our example is in excellent condition. Possibly by French potter Madame Marie Escallier (Who used a stylized back to back EE), active from 1874-1888. Noted for decorated florals, reputedly the company produced fine & ornate desk items as well. This antique double inkwell is rare & valuable addition to any desk. Measures 9x9x6".
