American, early 19th century. A rustic American hand carved and stained wood bench with mortise and tenon construction, having ornate open work circular adornments to back, scalloped wood seat rail, lifted on shoe foot with stretcher, apparently unmarked. Overall approximate height 32.25"; overall approximate length 49"; overall approximate depth 22.5"; approximate depth of seat 14.5"; approximate height from floor to seat 16". Provenance: From the Estate of Liz Howell Bloodworth, Atlanta, Georgia.

Condition

Structurally sound. With dirt and grime to surface. Some seam separation; more noticeable to left side than to right. On pierced ring has been broken off and reattached; repair is well done and not immediately obvious. Some scattered paint drips to bench seat. Some areas of more dramatic wear to stain; largely contained to seat back. Scattered flaws to wood; original to piece.
