Wallace Nutting - #922 Oak Welsh Dresser

Lot 0250 Details

Description
Wallace Nutting Furniture. Extremely rare #922 Oak Welsh Dresser. This is one of the finest pieces of Wallace Nutting furniture that we have ever sold, and carries the provinence of George & Justine Monro, founders of the Wallace Nutting Collectors Club. Nutting described this piece as follows: "All dressers are Welsh dressers in the loose jargon of the commercial furniture trade. The original of (this) piece was imported by Wallace Nutting from Wales. Every part is in oak. The arched panels, lined, render the construction with its numerous drawers and panel back more costly than the pine cupboards. The scrolled H hinges here and all the iron hardware examples are made by us, and invariably attached with hand made nails since their period is before the days of screws". Condition of this piece is immaculate, and we are proud to bring this piece to market. "See page 33 in the Wallace Nutting General Catalog, Supreme Edition.
