Description

Chinese Sino-Tibetan gilt bronze lama figure of Dudul Dorje, the 13th Karmapa (1733-1798).
Youthful in appearance and maintaining a formal posture, he holds the two hands to the heart. Open eyes, with moustaches over the naturally painted lips, within cold gilding face. Attired in robes of a monk. The head is adorned with red vajra hat, symbol of the Karmapa Lamas - a gift of the Dakinis. Seat upon a lotus throne. Extensive trace of gilt, with red pigment on the headrest.

Provenance: Charlotte, North Carolina private collector.

Condition

Excellent condition, with normal anomalies in nature, sign of stressed surface, minor scratch & dent. Surface traced wear and or declined to gilding. Normal, considering ages and wears.
