A pair of Victorian English sterling berry spoons. Hallmarks for Henry & Henry John Lias, London 1872. Exceptionally decorated, the front handle and stem depicts a mythological scene of Dionysus / Bacchus the wine god, riding a cheetah towards a nude female, another figure sleeps. The gold wash bowl is chased and etched with a floral and foliage motif. The back side depicts Bacchus wearing a crown of leaves, grapes and vines. The back of the handle is further adorned with an urn and thistles. Each measuring 8-7/8" long, 2" wide. Overall weight of the two,194.9 grams.
