Lot 0138A
A fantastic Greek red-figure fish plate, Campania, 4th Century BC, of classic form with beautifully painted images of a fish, a cuttle fish and a ray, with shells in between and around a central depression containing a wave motive. Around the outer edge of the downward folded rim is another gorgeous wave pattern, a solid black band on the underside. Dia: 7 7/8 in (19.8 cm). A choice example of this classic and very popular Greek ceramic form! Ex UK private collection; Ex collection of Dr. I.B, acquired in the 1970's in London.
