Lot 0141A
A large and impressive Etruscan bucchero kyathos, c. 560 – 520 BC, on a stemmed foot with large flanged handle adorned with two frontal ram heads in relief and surmounted by a nipple. The front of the handle is decorated with an incised geometric pattern which descends into the bowl ending in two volutes. The interior of the bowl has to ridged projections near the handle and flat rim incised with a wavy band. The exterior of the bowl with two ridges below the rim tops by an incised zigzag motif. H: 11 ½ in (29.2 cm); Dia: 8 ¼ in (20.8 cm). A lovely example in great state of preservation with glossy well-burnished surfaces with light deposits. East Essex, UK private collection.
