A large Italo-Corinthian olpe

A large Italo-Corinthian olpe, c. 6th Century BC, the ovoid body with flared ring foot, short neck with trefoil pouring spout and strap handle. The vessel is decorated with horizontal banding in orange-brown slip with a central scale-like band, vertical tongues around top of shoulder. H: 11 1/2 in (29.3cm). An attractive vessel with scattered deposits. Ex German private collection formed in the 1950's.
