These cases measure approx. 3 1/4" by 3 3/4", and each contain an antique
Sixth-plate: 2 3/4" x 3 1/4" image of a soldier (or soldiers). Interior of cases have velvet cushioned lid, and brilliant metallic frame with glass covering the images. Various manufacturers. Exterior adornments are a variety of patterns or scenes, please see associated images. At least one image is a daguerreotype, the others may be ambrotype. These cases appear to be constructed of wood, and a thin layer of leather. Small metal hook and eye closure.
This lot is from the estate of a very well-known and well-respected lifetime Civil War collector in Upstate New York.
