Details: This lot consists of a framed medal identified to Civil War Veteran William L. Williams, a Pittsford resident who was in the NY Cavalry. It is displayed in a shadow box with a copy of his obituary.

The medal features a badge hanging from a blue ribbon. The bar at the top features a right-pointing arrow with a star on either side. The badge itself features an albumen portrait of a young Williams over crossed cannons and reads "MONROE CO. CIVIL WAR VETERANS' ASSN. JULY 29-1916". On the back of the medal is a makers mark reading "BASTIAN BROS. CO. ROCHESTER. N.Y." and a shield with the letters "M.P.B./P.I.U." Medal measures 3.75" x 1.8" and comes in a shadow box measuring 6.25" x 8.25".

This lot is from the estate of a well-known and well-respected lifetime Civil War collector in Upstate New York. Worth Auctions will feature scores of antique firearms, edged weapons, paintings, and unusual items over the next few months. Condition / Notes: This item is in excellent condition and shows signs of normal period wear that may include patina, abrasions, rust and soiling. The portrait is in excellent condition with little to no surface erosion and highly visible with excellent contrast.
