Details: This lot consists of a framed medal identified to Civil War Veteran William L. Williams, a Pittsford resident who was in the NY Cavalry. It is displayed in a shadow box with a copy of his obituary.
The medal features a badge hanging from a blue ribbon. The bar at the top features a right-pointing arrow with a star on either side. The badge itself features an albumen portrait of a young Williams over crossed cannons and reads "MONROE CO. CIVIL WAR VETERANS' ASSN. JULY 29-1916". On the back of the medal is a makers mark reading "BASTIAN BROS. CO. ROCHESTER. N.Y." and a shield with the letters "M.P.B./P.I.U." Medal measures 3.75" x 1.8" and comes in a shadow box measuring 6.25" x 8.25".
