Details: 5Pcs. This lot comprises antique Civil War era medical tools.
No. 1: K & D Steel medical trocar. This is a two-piece instrument, made of bright steel. There is a very sharp pointed shaft on a handle, with a removable hollow tube over the shaft. Measures approx. 5 3/4" in length.
No. 2: Bakelite syringe. Measures 5" in length. approx. 1/2" in diameter.
No. 3: Antique morphine pill box. Tiny puck shaped cardboard pill box, that reads, "W.H. Scheiffelin & Co. New York Soluble Pil: Morphi/e Sulp 1/8 gr." Measures 1" diameter by 1/2" deep.
No. 4: Antique primitive bleeder/embalming bleeder peg. Metal tip on a two-piece hollow wooden peg. The bladed hollow peg fits into the hollow wooden 'sheath'. Presumably a type of bleeder/trocar for embalming. Measures 2" in length.
No. 5: Rare 5 bladed antique brass fleam bleeder. Blades fold into brass case/handle. 'CAM' is engraved on the side of brass. Approx. 3 1/4" in length closed.
This lot is from the estate of a very well-known and well-respected lifetime Civil War collector in Upstate New York. Condition / Notes: These antique medical tools show nicely, with moderate age and wear. The medical trocar shows nicely, with a very bright steel appearance, mild oxidation. The syringe is in working condition, and shows very mild wear, made out of what is presumably Bakelite.
