Details: 16Pcs This lot consists of a Grand Army of the Republic militaria including coat and cap buttons, a wreath insignia, a "DELEGATE" medal from the "31ST NATIONAL ENCAMPMENT BUFFALO, N.Y. 1897", a Civil War Centennial ribbon badge, and a GAR memorial day pin for "AUBURN, N.Y.".
One coat and 11 cap buttons with GAR script on lined field. The coat and one cap button have unmarked filled backs. All the other cap buttons read "SCOVILLE MF'G. CO. WATERBURY" or "WATERBURY BUTTON CO." Cap buttons measure just over .5" in diameter, and coat button measures 1".
The insignia is of thin metal and has GAR in gray surrounded by a wreath in gold. There are several fastener bars on the back. Measures 2.5" x 1.5".
The medal is affixed to a blue ribbon and reads "31ST NATIONAL ENCAMPMENT BUFFALO, N.Y. 1897". The striking gilt circular badge features a high relief buffalo bust affixed to the front and American flags hanging in the background. The bar at the top reads "DELEGATE" and is accented with gilt intaglio scrolls, white details and a bright red background. The badge is fastened with a C-clasp on a tube hinge. Makers mark on back reads "C.G. BRAXMAR 10 MAIDEN LANE NY." Comes in shadow box. Measures 2"x 4".
The Centennial badge features a gilt GAR device at the top of an eagle with outstretched wings over artillery cannons and fodder with a sword or saber in its talons and a blue and gray weighted ribbon reading "CIVIL WAR CENTENNIAL 1861 1865 1961 1965. Closes with a C-clasp on a round hinge. Measures 1.5"x 3.75".
The memorial pin features an image of the GAR badge surrounded by the text, and on the edge is printed a makers mark reading "F.F. PULVER CO., ROCHESTER, N.Y.", which was in operation in the early 1900's. The pin is soldered around the back and does not use a clasp. Measures 1.2" in diameter.
This lot is from the estate of a well-known and well-respected lifetime Civil War collector in Upstate New York.
