Details: 2 Pcs. This lot comprises an antique powder horn, and an antique drinking horn or sheath with a belt clip.
The antique powder horn measures approx. 14" in length and approx 3 1/2" in diameter on the wide end. Made from a large bovine horn, with a wooden stopper and threaded plug on the wide end. It does not have a stopper on the small end/tip.
The antique horn belt sheath or drinking horn is a primitive design, with an iron clip fashioned to the wide end for securing it to a belt. Approx. 3" wide on the open end, tapering to the natural tip of the horn. It has a small sheet of copper bent over the open edge of the horn. It has initials carved on it reading, "M.G." as well as several other letters or words that have rubbed off with age and wear.
This lot is from the estate of a very well-known and well-respected lifetime Civil War collector in Upstate New York. Condition / Notes: These antiques show nicely, with moderate to significant age and wear. The powder horn is missing its stopper cap. The drinking horn shows significant wear and rubbing, which has worn of some of the etched letters on the outside.
