Grand Cross Star, 1st Class, instituted in 1854. Breast Star, 85 mm, Silver, brilliant cut rays, smooth and imitating the sequined embroidery, applied Order's cross in gold and enameled arms, wonderfully chiselled laurel wreath, centre medallion with polychrome enameled image of the Virgin on a gold yellow enameled background with bright, gold beams and white dots around, gilt reverse with maker s escutcheon of Halley, Paris, round pin (French marks) and two side Hooks. A very rare star, of the best and rarest French manufacture, in mint condition. The Order of Guadalupe, was created by Emperor Maximilian as a reward for both military and civil merits towards the state. At the Emperor’s atrocious death at Queretaro, the order survived him, being then adopted by the Mexican Republic in new form without monarchic attributes The Order of Guadalupe, was created by Emperor.
