Excellent 1946 mint all original condition example with all matching serial numbers. Approved on 12th September 1944, the .303 Enfield No. 5 Mk. 1 rifle (jungle carbine) was produced at the Royal Ordnance Factory (ROF) at Fazakerle, near Liverpool, with only some 169,807 being manufactured. Barrel length- 20.5 inches. Overall length- 39.5 inches. Weight- 7lb 1oz. Magazine capacity- 10 rounds .303. Receiver, bolt arm, and front stock all marked with serial number W7270. Butt marked "S" for small size plus WD Broad Arrow. Butt plate- marked with WD broad arrow. Stock ring marked "England," butt underside marked NG6- Crown/N/62. Top of the barrel marked - crown BNP (Birmingham Proof Mark) - .303 2.222" - 18.5 tons per square inch. Safety catch marked - F 113.Various parts of the rifle marked with WD broad arrow or "F" for Fazakerley. The No. 5 rifle has a distinctive barrel flash eliminator - rubber butt kick pad - barrel bar for No. 5 bayonet. The rear aperture sight is ranged 200 to 800 yards. Caliber: 303 Serial #: W7270
