Description
in two parts, the upper section with a pair of glazed doors and quarter columns above a tablet carved "Thomas Whitlocke" dated 1707, the lower section with slant lid carved with a lovely hunt scene titled "Hunting Ye Stag" opening to a fitted interior, over three short and three long graduated drawers. Profusely carved throughout with vines, grapes, birds, fans and other details. A superb example of folk carving. In somewhat rough estate condition with losses, old repairs, wear and damage, replaced hardware. 83" high, 40 1/4" wide, 20" deep. Provenance: Property of a New York Collector.
