The ormolu mounts early to mid-19th Century, incised “Escalier de Cristal Paris”. The celadon Qing Dynasty or earlier. The ormolu handhold cast with a female mask. Height overall 2 ¾”. Diameter 5”. (Cond: celadon with a repaired crack, nice crackle, the ormolu excellent quality, good color) (400/600) Cf. The firm “Escalier de Cristal”, (1802-1923) produced small furniture and luxury objects, often of Far-Eastern style or inspiration, as is the offered cup, they most often engaged the best of Parisian artists who specialized in the specific technical field needed to create the object being produced. The firm was established during the French Restoration by the Widow Barthelemy Desarnaud, and was at that time amongst the finest in Paris.
