WW2 Trench art ash trays made by Japanese Prisoners of War at Leyte Philippines. The base of each ash tray is a 105mm M14 Type -1 shell dated 1943 with 50 cal round in the center. One ash tray has 3 .30 cal rounds that serve as the stand. Along the outside of the 1st ashtray is engraved "PW (Prisoner of War) made Leyte Philippine " along with a chrysanthemum , a temple and a tree. The second ash tray with .30 cal stand has Japanese letters (Kanji) chrysanthemums, a mountain, and other outdoor scenery. This ashtray also has two sets of American initials -P.C.K. and K.S. One of the .50 cal rounds is attached but can be pulled off.
