Clipped signature of Stephen A. Douglas (1813-1861) a Senator of Illinois, and the designer of the Kansas-Nebraska Act. He is famously know for losing against Abraham Lincoln in the 1860 Presidential election. He had previously defeated Lincoln in a run for the Senate, and is noted for the Lincoln-Douglas debates, in which he was nick named the "Little Giant". Nicely framed below a print of the Senator. Very Good-Excellent
