Garry Lewis, Ohio Paint Decorated American Tall Case

Garry Lewis Warren, Trumbull Co., Ohio. Circa 1820-30, brother of Lambert & Wheeler Lewis. Wood dial with Arabic numerals and polychrome painted lunette with musical instruments, sheet music and flowers, spandrels with polychrome painted fans, face signed G. Lewis. Wooden 30 hour weight driven movement with lacking weights and pendulum. Poplar case in original red and black grain painted finish, bonnet with scroll cut-out broken arch top, scroll cut sides. Waist with overlapping tombstone door, chamfered corners with lambs tongue terminals, nice ogee molding at top and bottom. Base with cut-out feet and apron, pine secondary wood, 17 1/4 x 10 x 84 1/2" high.
