Early 19th century Mennonite fractur book ownership plate for Andreas Bauer of Douglass Township, Montgomery Township, Pennsylvania dated 1832. Calligraphic text is filled in red, blue and indigo dyes. Plate in book titled "Das Neue Testament unsers Herrn und Heilandes Jesu Christi; Nach der Uebersetzung Doctor Martin Luthers; Mit kurzem Inhalt eines jeden Capitals, und vollstandiger Anweisung gleicher Schriftstellen; Wie auch aller Sonn- und Festtagigen Episteln und Evangelien" Published by Georg W. Mentz, Philadelphia, 1832. Douglass township is a small township that lies in western Montgomery County and encompasses the towns of Gilbertsville and Sassamansville. Andreas Bauer (1784-1864) is buried in the Bally Mennonite Cemetery in Bally, Pennsylvania.
