    A very nice map of Texas by one of the premier US map makers of the 19th century, Mitchell. The map offers a great deal of detail as to the counties, topography and settlements. Insets are Northern Texas and Galveston.

    Samuel Augustus Mitchell (1790-1860) was an American geographer born in Connecticut. He worked as an educator before turning to publishing geography textbooks and maps.
