**First Time At Auction**
Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. Love this piece! If the Colima natives created a Sumo wrestler in pottery, it might look just like this! A typical gingerbread type figure, only this one is far heftier than normal with a more than sturdy build of overall wide girth. His large size probably was an indication that he was an important person in the village. Nice surviving black decorative striations particularly visible on right arm. Size: 5.125" W x 7.75" H (13 cm x 19.7 cm)
Provenance: private Ventura County, California, USA collection
