John Baldessari (American, born June 17, 1931), autographed photolithograph poster, 1990. Signed by contemporary artist John Baldessari in white at the lower center, a poster for a solo exhibition of this California conceptual artist at the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art (March 25 - June 17, 1990). The image features a man wearing a suit and descending a staircase in a film noir manner - all in black and white except for the royal blue brief case he holds. His head is eclipsed by a large white circle (a signature of Baldessari's), and only by looking at his shadow beyond, do we see his fedora hat. Size: 38.625" L x 24.375" W (98.1 cm x 61.9 cm)

Baldessari began his career in the early 1960s worked in a gestural style; however, by the 1970s he abandoned painting and worked in a variety of media, though his main interest was in the photographic image. His oeuvre has been shaped by his pursuit of Conceptual Art and his persistent questioning of what art is, as well as an interest in the playfulness of Pop Art. He famously stated, "I guess a lot of it's just lashing out, because I didn't know how to be an artist, and all this time spent alone in the dark in these studios and importing my culture and constant questions. I'd say, "Well, why is this art? Why isn't that art?" Baldessari is also beloved for his innovative teaching style, impacting many of the so-called Pictures Generation, known for blending Pop and Conceptual Art in the 1980s.

Making music happen since 2009…

Today, Musack's mission is to give kids and teens a voice through music by providing guitars, drums, and support for music teachers - wherever the need arises.

But back in 2009, Emmy-Award winning writer/producer Donick Cary (Letterman /Simpsons / Parks and Recreation /Silicon Valley) began Musack with a simple vision - raise money to fund musical programs for his hometown high school on Nantucket Island. After a rash of teen suicides on the island, Donick thought about how he and his friends got through their teen years. Music.

Musack continues to make music happen around the world with support from people like you. All lots offered for sale in today’s fundraising auction have been donated by celebrities, non-celebrities, and local businesses. Help us help our kids - bid high, bid often!
