LEE/ROSE NO. 374 CUP PLATE, deep amethyst, slightly cloudy, 22 scallops with single point between. Very rare (see note). Good resonance. Eastern, possibly Boston & Sandwich Glass Co. 1840-1860. 3 1/4" D.
Rim chipping causing losses, two moderate and several smaller top-rim spalls.

Catalogue Note: This and the preceding lot are the first examples of this plate that we have sold, which suggest it is extremely rare. It was on Elsholz's want list but he never acquired a specimen. It was also absent from the Powell, Bilane, and King collections.
