Eva Zeisel, an extremely rare and early glaze and design test for the Pals decoration pattern on a Platter painted by Zeisel herself, Eva Zeisel Fine Stoneware, Monmouth Pottery, Western Stoneware Company, Monmouth, Illinois, circa 1953-1954. Unmarked. Underside with applied tape on which is written ‘Ross-Cooper.’ Dia.: 13 1/2 in. (34.3 cm). 1620-086.

Note: Bette Cooper, co-author of Monmouth Western Stoneware (1983), was an unofficial archivist for the factory and collected examples of these works, including test pieces, as they came off the line.
