Greece, Athens, Attic Period, ca. 5th century BCE. A kylix, a drinking cup, with a deep bowl, a round foot, and wide, squared-off, raised handles. In tondo is a miniature, lightly stamped motif of six leaves/ferns around a daisy-like flower. The body is glazed black and has been fired to a high shine everywhere except for the ring around the top of the foot and the underside of the foot - the glossy black color probably meant to be an imitation of bronze vessels. Size: 7.05" L x 4.8" W x 2.55" H (17.9 cm x 12.2 cm x 6.5 cm)
Provenance: private Orange County, California, USA collection acquired before 2000
