Rome, Imperial Period, Trajan, ca. 98 to 117 CE. AE sestertius (25.95 grams). Rome Mint. Obverse: Laureate head of Trajan right. Reverse: Victoria stands on the right, a sign with the inscription VIC DAC attached to a palm tree; S C, either side. Cohen 452 var. Size: 1.3" W (3.3 cm)

Trajan was a successful soldier and emperor, and under him the Roman Empire had its greatest military expansion and reached the furthest extent of its borders. He implemented social welfare policies, built extensive public works, and is known as one of the Five Good Emperors.
