Ancient Rome, Imperial Period, probably from Carthage area of North Africa, ca. 2nd to 3rd century CE. A wheel-thrown terracotta vase, its body of an elegant form with a ribbed, voluminous, curved lower section that tapers to a cylindrical neck, all on a diminutive raised base with a modeled target-like relief decoration. A wonderful example with nice wheel-throwing marks representing the process of its creation. Size: 6.25" in diameter x 8.875" H (15.9 cm x 22.5 cm)
