One of Germany's most famous contemporary artists, WP Eberhard Eggers has received a strong international reputation for his etchings, engravings, hand-made books and sculpture. In total over two hundred one man exhibitions of his art have taken place throughout Europe and America since he began exhibiting his work in the mid 1960's. Recent one man exhibitions have taken place at the Galerie Hohmann, Hamburg (1996), the Galerie Duden, Berlin (2000) and Kunstverein Bad Salzdefurth (2001). WP Eberhard Eggers concentrated almost exclusively upon engraving and etching during the late 1960's and the 1970's decade. His unique blend of surrealism inspired by Salvador Dali and psychological imagery gained him many commissions in both Germany and the United States. Portrait of a Proud Lady was published in 1968 and was his first commissioned etching for an American publisher. With its superb use of both etching and tonal aquatint it is a wonderful example of Eggers's truly unique art.
