Lot consisting of a War of 1812 curved sword (saber) that belonged to British officer John Batten signed Wooley, Deakin, and Dutton Warranted. Blade is 28.5 in and overall with original scabbard 33.5 in long. Sword is engraved, handle has lion head pommel, scabbard has traces of gilding. Blade has some discoloring but overall good condition. Together with an oil portrait of John Batten in uniform with printed info on back - He belonged to the 82nd Regiment of Foot in the War of 1812. Portrait is 13 .5 x 10 inches (crack/restoration), overall in gilt oval frame 18 x 14.
