Ancient Near East, Anatolia (central Turkey), Tell Halaf fertility idol, ca. 5000 to 4000 BCE. The Halaf culture of Anatolia and ancient Syria developed in approximately 5000 BCE and produced various female figurines with specific fertility attributes - big breasts and large buttocks. Many scholars believe that these figurines were used in religious and funerary practices. Rare example of this type in very fine condition.
