Antique Encyclopedia of Freemasonry Volumes 1 & 2 1918 Albert G. Mackey, M.D., 33rd Degree The Masonic History Company New York and London, 1918 This Antique Encyclopedia of Freemasonry Vol. I (A-L). Vol. II (M-Z) was published by The Masonic History Company New York and London, 1918. This set was originally written by Albert G. Mackey, M.D., 33rd Degree in 1873. He was the author of "The History of Freemasonry", "Lexicon of Freemasonry", "A Textbook of Masonic Jurisprudence", "Symbolism of Freemasonry", etc. Black boards with gold gilt circular 'Masonic History Company' symbol on the front covers and gold gilt lettering and Masonic symbol on spines. ILLUSTRATED VOLUMES in black-and-white line drawings and full-color artwork. Gold gilt edges on all sides. Frontispiece is a full-page, black and white portrait of Albert G. Mackey which is a sketch by Edward H. Hawkins. Both front and back covers are in good condition for nearly 100 year old books! The covers on both have a broken spine (see photos) but the entire back is still attached. There is some wear near the bottom spine on both books. There is one loose page which is a photo (no words) Gold gilt on page edges is in very good condition. Overall they are still very tight books. Each book measures 10 ½ " x 7 ½ " x 2". There are many illustrations throughout the books and the colors are still quite vibrant and beautiful. These would make a wonderful addition to any Masonic collection and also a wonderful gift for your favorite Mason. Please refer to photos to view condition.
