French Brass and Steel Helmet & Breastplate or Cuirass the helmet with a serpent draped god overlooking a raised badge of a fiery grenade flanked by oak leaves, with red plumes and black horsehair tail, the gorget with brass chain straps surmounted by lions, possibly by A. Pestillat in Paris, France, c. 1870, on a museum-quality professional mount.

Condition

professional restorations and a museum-quality mount, slight pitting of the steel on the cuirass's back plate; the plume, horsehair, and some leather elements obvious replacments, the helmet's interior with remnants of old leather lining
