A wonderful Egyptian papyrus fragment, c. 1991-600 BC, with 9 horizontal lines of beautifully penned Hieratic text in black ink. On the reverse side is a line or Hieratic text, also penned nicely in black ink. Although this fragment remains unstranslated, it is likely a recording or a receipt or business transaction, as was common with documents similar to the example here. A fantastic example of a Hieratic text, showcasing the beauty of the written language!!! Papyrus Dimensions: 6 3/4 in x 5 in, Frame: 12 1/2 in x 10 1/2 in. Ex Hamdy Sakr collection; previously in the private collection of Alex Anckonie III, acquired during his time in the Navy in the 1960's - 1970's.
