Rare 1970 Isle of Wight Festival PosterArtist: Dave RoeMedium: LithographPrinting Date: 1970Size: 19 7/8" x 29 7/8"
The Isle of Wight Festival in 1970 was one of the most legendary festivals held in the era. It is estimated that between 600,000 and 800,000 people attended—all on a small island that had a population of less than 100,000! Jimi Hendrix was one of the many headliners. The festival also featured Chicago, The Doors, The Who, Joan Baez, Miles Davis, Ten Years After, Emerson Lake & Palmer, and many others. Because the festival was not a commercial success and was met with opposition from the locals, it was the last event of its kind on the Isle of Wight for more than 30 years. All items from this show are scarce and very popular.
