New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty, 1292-1150 BC. A wooden cosmetic spoon in the form of the hieroglyph Ankh meaning 'life'; loop at the top deeply cut to form a bowl; cross bar with two small lotus flowers to the side; handle in the form of three papyrus plants bound together at the top and bottom. 20 grams, 18cm (7"). From an old British private collection; formed between 1975 and 1985.
