ARR Chien-Ying Chang, (1913-2004), 'Rain', watercolour, signed and dated 1954 in characters to right side and with red seal mark, 9.5, (24cm) square, unframed, the separate card backing panel with typewritten label and address of 17 De Vere Gardens Kensington verso.Chien-Ying Chang studied at the Slade School of Art 1947-1950 courtesy of a British Council grant. Following Mao Tse Tung's 'Cultural Revolution' she decided to remain in Britain, where she was befriended by the prominent artist Stanley Spencer (who painted her portrait on several occasions and attended her wedding). Her patrons included the wife of Prime Minister Clement Attlee.

Condition

Good condition, loose from backing and unframed/unglazed.
