Ca. 1800, 210 x 125 cm, South Sweden, south eastern Skåne
Composed of two panels, this cover decorated in wide horizontal stripes is largely woven in the rollakan technique, with the two stripes at both ends embroidered in the rosengång technique. Diamonds, eight-pointed stars, large blossoms composed of eight petals and rosettes depicting birds have been placed in the seven yellow-ground panels of the field. Judging by the ornamentation and palette, this very beautiful cover was probably woven in south eastern Skåne, either in Ljunits, Herrestads or Ingelstad. – Good condition.
