Rare Important Imperial Yellow Fine Chinese Nanjing Yunjin 'Silk-Embroidery' (Ming-Dragon Design) 'Qing Dynasty', East China, early 19th century, silk/silk, approx. 125 x 92 cm, condition: 2 (good condition, sewn on high- quality frame), remarkable fine quality made for the forbidden city in Beijing, very fine yellow silk foundation, the yellow silk ground is extremely finely woven with multicolored silk threads, five-clawed Ming-style dragons with flaming pearl, while of the imperial dynasties there were strict regulations on the use of colors (the color yellow became imperial and nobody except the emperor of china could wear yellow clothes or own yellow utensils), this examples was only produced by the imperial textile factories in Nanjing Yunjin (this highly fine and complex works required two master-workers, rare and important textile from the forbidden city, museum quality.*
